Read user mail permissions limited only to users is not good for me. I'm using Webmin with small home server (CentOS 6.6) and I need to service all mailboxes for my home users. Especially delete any doubtless spam messages. Exists some way to change Read user mail module behavior? I don't want to change permissions of users mail folders, I prefer to change something in webmin module. Other users (members of my family) excepting me don't have an access to webmin, so in 1.730 is no more way to delete theirs unwanted messages from webmin. Pro tempore I returned webmin 1.720, but I prefer better solution.

My users (members of my family) don't need to use usermin or webmin for e-mail reading. They are using classic e-mail clients, Windows live mail or Outlook Express in theirs computers. Only I need to work with all e-mail messages with webmin's Read User Mail module. Except root I have several other e-mail accounts for testing purposes (something like test@mydomaïn.com), I need a possibility to read and, eventually, erase them.
My solution:
1) in webmin 1.720 export Read User Mail module to file
2) upgrade to webmin 1.730
3) install saved module from file
So old Read User Mail from webmin 1.720 is working good for me.

ok. clever works. if you have any email issues with the email server, also check out serverfault.com. and for sending using a php script check out stackoverflow.com. for installing serverware, howtoforge.com.

Hi,
my situation is the same (root user on my own server), I need to work with other email accounts for testing purposes.
Is there a simple way of enabling root control instead of importing old module?
thanks,
Paul

Just in case anyone else is interested, this is what I did:
Visited the Wayback Machine
Downloaded the old version module (from late November 2014)
Cloned current module to another name (just in case I needed it)
Installed the older (Wayback Machine) version and it overwrote 1.73 version.
All done!
Now I can delete the test emails from other accounts :-)
Regards, Paul

read user email mod is an admin function for webmin, not usermin. your users should be going to port 20000 and login and read mail.

webmin operates as root. so no, there is not a way to do this. the module is required for proper functionality.
