I have been focusing lately on migrating the scheduling and resource limit logic used in app_cbmysql into app_meetme. The goal would be to no longer need app_cbmysql and support a wider range of database backend through the Asterisk db interfaces, in particular ODBC. The good news is that it was not a nightmare to migrate the logic. Even better the core Asterisk developers merged the initial patch to enhance the RealTime features of app_meetme to support the scheduling and resource limits. I went a step further and added a new feature to allow conference moderators to extend the conference from the admin menu. Sadly that was not merged, as the core developers want to see testing to confirm that the RealTime code is compatible with other databases. I do not have the time or resources to do this, and would appreciate it if someone with knowledge of Postfix and or MS-SQL could test RealTime app_meetme from Asterisk trunk or one of the 1.6.0beta/rc releases. Thanks, Dan |

This is heads-up about future development efforts for Web-MeetMe. Just today the core scheduling features of app_cbmysql were merge into app_meetme in the Asterisk SVN repository. There will be a new release of Web-MeetMe intended for use with Asterisk 1.6 when it is released, and at that time app_cbmysql will be depreciated. Unfortunately the database column names in existing installations do not match what will be used by=20 app_meetme. So there will be an upgrade script included to rename the database columns, and it is also likely that there will be a roll-back script to allow an installation to be reset back to the original names. This also means changes to the PHP code in the web UI to handle the new column names. The current 3.X branch of Web-MeetMe, including app_cbmysql should work with Asterisk 1.6 and will be maintained for some time. Advantages: More developer eyes on the scheduling code Elimination of the cbEnd.php script Opens the door to adding audio menu option to extend a conference in progress Database options. Using the RealTime options in app_meetme with ODBC means we are no longer limited to using MySQL Disadvantages: Upgrading. It is possible install and test new versions of the 2.X and 3.X web interfaces in parallel with an existing setup. This will not work with 4.0 It looks like Asterisk 1.6 may be available a lot sooner than expected, so I will be working on the changes required to be ready for that release. Dan |

I was exploring the new services and donations options and meant to tweak only my donation preferences, but it looked like it changed it globally. We've never received any donations, but looking at the Settings that's because the project did not have opt-in=20 set on our accounts. Should we setup an account that can receive donations (if we receive any) and then divvy them up? Dan |

I've started looking at merging the functionality of app_cbmysql into app_meetme. One of the results is that I am not completely happy with the current table layout. I'm thinking to split booking into two tables, one for the actual conference settings, and one for the ownership/description details. This would allow me to reduce the overall DB size and allow app_meetme to only retrieve information it needs. The major drawback to this is I think I will need to write an upgrade script to migrate data from the current layout to the new one. Which is something I am sure to screw up. Before investing too much time on this I thought I would ask for comments on the new layout I am proposing, and see if anyone would like to help with the upgrade script. CREATE TABLE `booking` ( `bookId` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL auto_increment, `confno` varchar(30) default '0', `userpin` varchar(30) NOT NULL default '0', `modpin` varchar(30) NOT NULL default '0', `uFlags` varchar(10) NOT NULL default '', `mFlags` varchar(10) NOT NULL default '', `maxUser` varchar(30) NOT NULL default '10', `startTime` datetime NOT NULL default '0000-00-00 00:00:00', `endTime` datetime NOT NULL default '0000-00-00 00:00:00', `dateReq` datetime NOT NULL default '0000-00-00 00:00:00', `dateMod` datetime NOT NULL default '0000-00-00 00:00:00', `status` varchar(30) NOT NULL default 'A', `sequenceNo` int(10) unsigned default '0', `bdId` int(10) NOT NULL default '0', PRIMARY KEY (`bookId`) ) ENGINE=3DMyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=3Dlatin1 AUTO_INCREMENT=3D145 ; CREATE TABLE `bookingDetails` ( `bookId` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL auto_increment, `clientId` int(10) unsigned default '0', `status` varchar(30) NOT NULL default 'A', `confOwner` varchar(30) NOT NULL default '', `confDesc` varchar(100) NOT NULL default '', `recurInterval` int(10) unsigned default '0', PRIMARY KEY (`bookId`) ) ENGINE=3DMyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=3Dlatin1 AUTO_INCREMENT=3D145 ; CREATE TABLE 'wmm_Version'( 'ver' int (10) NOT NULL default '5', PRIMARY KEY ('ver') ) ENGINE=3DMyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=3Dlatin1 AUTO_INCREMENT=3D145 ; The last table is intended to make future upgrades easier by being able to check what version of the table layout is in use. Thanks, Dan |

Cool. I had a few minutes and thought to start on it, but I would prefer to let someone who needs it to code it. =20 Keep in mind that is should be optional and if not set in lib/defines the code to check and enforce the limit must not be run. =20 Dan =20 From: Jason Craig [mailto:jas...@ro...]=20 Sent: Tuesday, January 16, 2007 6:00 AM To: Dan Austin Cc: Web...@li... I just checked in some changes that make it easier to customize the options presented in the web interface for Moderator and user flags. This modification got me thinking about=20 dependencies in the options themselves. If no Moderator pin is set and the user selects the "Wait for Leader" option, the conference will be unusable. I'm trying to think of the best way to handle this. A small javascript snippet of code could be called to set the moderator pin, or we could trigger an alert pop to warn the user that they must set the pin. I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on this. Dan |

I've fixed (at least to my satisfaction) the DST bug, and identified and fixed a problem with app_cbmysql and The earlyalert feature. I've also cleaned up some of the UI quirks that made it into the 3.0.0 release. I'm planning on a 3.0.1 release early next week, and wondered if anyone has identified any other issues that should be cleaned up? Dan |

I had tested support for DST transitions in an earlier release, but the new and improved recurring meeting support has exposed an odd little bug. The logic is pretty straight forward, once I figure out a way to see if recurring conference will cross a DST transition. The new transition schedule and apparent lack of rules is making it not very obvious. Any thoughts? Dan |

Now that the web interface is using PEAR::DB, half of the suite just doesn't care what the database backed is. I'm toying with the idea of porting app_cbmysql to use ODBC instead of linking directly to MySQL. I have no really need for it, and am happy with MySQL, but I'd interested in your thoughts. Would a more generic app_cbmysql be of value in your installations? I also suppose that if I were to port it to ODBC, we should pick a new name. Any suggestions? Dan |
