When adding new customers, if you don't enter the branch data right away, the customer record is no longer accessible from the search interface. The search is in the form of an sql join requiring the master record and the branch record to exist. Perhaps the customer data alone should not be committed if branch data is not entered... Great work Phil. It is great for some of us not to have to start from a blank canvas. I will be making quite a lot of modifications, especially to the interface. I will share this once I am done. _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: smart spam protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail |

Barry, I wonder if there are other files not there the file was actually DefineCartClass.php not DefineCartClass.inc If its not there it won't work! You will have to extract the archive to the directory again. Does it work if you apply web-erp-demo.sql to make the weberp database ? It seems there are important files from the distribution missing. Hi Barry, Couple of questions to clarify the situation: - Do other nasty messages appear in other (transaction entry) areas of the system eg entering a payment or receipt or invoicing, or entering a purchase order. These areas all use sessions extensively. This might indicate some problem with sessions on your server. I know one common error in windows installations is a setting in php.ini for the directory where to store session (server side) cookies. By default this is the unix /tmp whereas in windows it might be more appropriate to set this to something like - C:\Temp I think case is important? This has come up on the list before so there may be some more info in the archives. - Does the file DefineCartClass.inc exist in your E:\wwwroot\web-erp\ directory? - Have you modified the code at all ? - Does this message come up immediately you enter the page or after selecting a customer or quick entry? Hello, I've just installed WEB-ERP and have got the following problem when I select sales order entry. *Fatal error*: The script tried to execute a method or access a property of an incomplete object. Please ensure that the class definition *cart* of the object you are trying to operate on was loaded _before_ the session was started in *E:\wwwroot\web-erp\SelectOrderItems.php* on line *35. * Thanks in advance for the help. barry |

Dear Mr. Daintree, When I enter an Item as an adjustment, for example a cheese product that weight 12.98 lbs; the program transforms it into 13.00 lbs when I look at the Item status. Is there a way to disable this feature. If not, what happens if I buy 12.98 lbs of cheese and I sell the same 12.98 lbs of the item; will the product show a remaining weight of 0.02 lbs. Thank you, Ronald Carhuas ___________________________________________________ How many satellites does the planet Uranus have? 0, 5 or 15? This is the first version that is known to be operational in a live environment and necessarily very largely stable. There are numerous enhancements and a few bug fixes following implementation in a $11m AUD company. The database started off at 16 Meg - which was largely made up of 4 years sales analysis history. But also 1600 customers and 2500 branches against these customers. The system is stable and fast on a Duron 1300 with RAID level 1 on 2 SCSI 10krpm disks 512Meg RAM. User reaction has been most favourable compared to the system they were using (AccPac) which had become slow and unreliable. The company was averaging 2 reboots per week on an NT small business server !! ( A 2.4GigHz P4 - 1Gig RAM) Some sales analysis reports were taking close to an hour to run, on web-erp - with 2 years more data than AccPac had - this is now taking only 6 seconds. It is early days to judge reliability but performance is breathtaking by comparison to what they were used to. Invoices and statements are now creating pdf files using the R&OS pdf-php.class which avoids the lisencing issues associated with pdflib. pdflib will be phased out as the other scripts are all modified to suit R&OS pdf-php.class. The class is included in the distribution (and the helvetica fonts) which account for the growth of the archive. Also the MimeMail class by Richard Hedges is also included in the distribution for automating the mailing of created pdf reports. This class extends php to allow attachment of files to mails created. The change log since version 0.1.10 follows: P>(Phil)PDFOrderPageHeader.inc and PrintCustOrder.php now refer to the pre-printed stationery versions. These will have to be modified to suit the client. A packing slip format that is headed up is included in the distribution called PDFOrderPageHeader_generic.inc and PrintCustOrder_generic.php - may be better to have another link to this from the order. <P>(Phil)CostUpdate.php now allows definition of two page security variables one that allows costs to be viewed and another that allows modifications to costs. <P>(Phil)Prices.php now allows definition of two page security variables one that allows prices to be viewed and another that allows modifications to prices. <P>(Phil)PO_OrderItems.php now has a button to lookup the purchase price of an item from the purchasing data this was automatic from the part search but where a code was entered directly, there was no lookup. <P>(Phil)New field in CustBranch DefaultShipVia that gets updated at the time of invoicing (ConfirmDispatch_Invoice.php) if it was modified in an order. <P>(Phil)PrintCustTrans.php and PDFTransPageHeader.inc modified to print the branch postal address instead of the head office address where the flag InvAddrBranch is set to 1 <P>(Phil)Customers.php modified to show AddrInvBranch option <P>(Phil)Payments.php now retains the bank account from which the amount is being paid. <P>(Phil)Fixed bug in SelectCompletedOrders.php was not showing the delivery dates and qty delivered due to earlier changes to the DefineCartClass.inc calls to additem now given correct params. <P>(Phil)Made select customer select a branch names and codes rather than a charge account DebtorNo code. <P>(Phil)Stopped order lines from being changed to 0 quantity <P>(Phil)SelectOrderItems.php excludes branches with DiableTrans=1 <P>(Phil)SelectCreditItems.php excludes branches with DiableTrans=1 <P>(Phil)CustomerBranches.php modified to show the new fields for DisableTrans, PostAddr1 - 4. <P>(Phil)GetSalesTransGLCodes.php fixed bugs was not returning codes correctly always using 1 <P>(Phil)CustomerAllocations.php and SupplierAllocations.php made a rounding tolerance of 0.005 for allocations to be accepted. <P>(Phil)Fixed bug in SuppPaymentRun.php to only print/process suppliers with an amount owing - it was picking up suppliers with debit balances ;( <P>(Phil)Changed SupplierInquiry.php to retain date from when invoice is held or released. <P>(Phil)Changed SelectOrderItems.php (again :( ) to avoid showing the last quick entry item as selected. unset($_GET["Edit"]) at the end of the quick entry code. <P>(Phil)Fixed bugs in SupplierInvoice.php and SupplierCredit.php that crashed the entry if the tax method was changed without a manual entry being applied new button to change tax calculation method. <P>(Phil)ConfirmDispatch_invoice.php now has link to new order entry <P>(Phil)CustomerAllocations.php fixed a bug that was number_format ing an already previously number_format ed field to display 1 where number_format had inserted a comma - ie where the figure for yet to allocate was > 999 the system displayed 1 <P>(Phil)SupplierInquiry.php made the invoices already paid incapable of changing status to held when already settled <P>(Phil)SuppTransGLAnalysis.php made general ledger account select box show account code and in account code order <P>(Phil)Made SelectOrderItems.php search only branches - a branch is required to invoice/credit it makes sense to select the branch rather than the customer and then the branch. The customer is implicit in the branch selection. Also use flag DisableTrans to ensure that only those current branches are allowed invoicing. <P>(Phil)Added DisableTrans on CustBranch table to disable a branch from being invoiced or credited to <P>(Phil)Added a new field AddrInvBranch to DebtorsMaster to enable invoices to be addressed to the branch postal address. To cover the situation where branch invoices must be sent to the branch not the charged customer. <P>(Phil)Fixed OrderItems.php to show menu for navigation - sorry Sherif! Also, now centres order comments below. Invoice numbers used to invoice the order are appended to the comments from ConfirmDispatch_Invoice.php. <P>(Phil)Fixed bugs in SelectSalesOrder.php was not using $_POST variables for SearchParts also was only searching parts with a sales order - need to show all parts then return orders for that part - no orders returned if no orders for the part selected. <P>(Phil) SelectOrderItems.php now uses LIMIT as per SelectProduct.php to limit the number of parts returned on as per the config directive $Maximum_Number_Of_Parts_To_Show <P>(Phil) Fixed bug in PDFBankingSummary.php now shows bank account name and account number. <P>(Phil) Modified - SelectProduct.php to have an 'All' stock categories search to find an item where the user may not know what category its in or user doesn't need to enter the category cos she knows the code. <P>(Phil) Modified - the PrintCustOrder.php and PDFOrderPageHeader.inc to use php-pdf class and default for pre-printed stationery. Pre-printed 2 part stationery is necessary to record notes of storemen. This will require modification for the client's own stationery. Copied the labelled up scripts to PrintCustOrder_generic.php and PDFOrderPageHeader.inc these still require PDFlib installed on the server. <P>(Phil) Modified ConfirmDispatch_Invoice.php back to remove selection of freight company. <P>(Phil) Modified delivery details to allow selection of a freight company and to allow entry of a freight cost to charge - which can be either calculated by the system or entered manually. <P>(Phil) Made new directive in config.php $DefaultPriceList this is used if the price cannot be determined first by reference to the customers salestype and currency. <P>(Phil) Modifications to SelectOrderItems.php GetPrice function to use the $DefaultPriceList if fails using the customer salestype/price list. This minimises input in other sales type prices to only those prices which are special to the customer. <P>(Phil) Fixed login page in header.inc to test for AccessLevel=="" and check for existence of SecurityGroups being an array as it should be. <P>(Phil) Deleted redundant fonts from the distribution only using helvetica <P>(Phil) PrintCustTrans.php corrections to format of InvText printing and select box for Credit Notes or Invoices to allow correct parameter to be sent for printing a credit note - was not showing charge branch. <P>(Phil) PrintCustStatements.php and PDFStatementPageHeader.inc now uses R & OS class.pdf.php class for creation of pdf statements. Any feedback - bad or good - always appreciated. Phil |

Yes - excellent point Steve. Someone trying out the demo on sourceforge thought it would be fun to reduce the access of the demonstration user, so I changed the permission of the demonstration user so that he/she wouldn't be able to get in to restrict the demo users rights and thus stop people having a look around at the fucntionality. Between you and I and the rest of the list there is another user set up in the default system - that should be deleted in a live installation called Admin whose p-w-d is albundy Lets hope malicious sods don't read the list archivesto upset the demo again. Hello, I just installed the software and it looks great. I have one small problem, though. When I try to create a user (click on "Setup User Accounts") I get this error message: The security settings on your account do not permit you to access this function. I'm using the demonstration account, I ran the web-erp-new.sql script and I'm running 0.1.9. How do I change the password and get access? Do I have to manually edit the database? Thanks in advance for the help! Steve |

Dear list members, The latest version has been uploaded incorporating the many enhancements and more than a few bug fixes provided by Sherif Omar. Among the numerous new features are: - New currencies page - New completed purchase order inquiry page - Improvements to purchase order entry - Cascading style sheet to set the look and feel of the whole application - Many new checks and balances on input particularly the stock inquiries I've also added - link from trial balance to the account inquiry page to drill down on a general ledger account balance - link from sales order entry line item to stock status inquiry in a new window - sales order line item is highlighted if the quantity ordered is greater than the quantity on hand at the customer branch stock location. Many thanks Sherif for the input! Phil |

Hi Sherif, I would VERY much like to incorporate your improvements! If you could tar.bz2 the scripts you have modified and email me that would be fantastic. It may take a bit to figure out which bits are changed - so some pointers might be helpful, if we have both worked on the same page over the last month or so. Internationalisation would be great it looks like a disturbing amount of work though! RE: receiving quantities - there is a parameter in config.php (undocumented of course!) which allows you to specify by how much you will accept over delivery - in some businesses small over deliveries are acceptable eg. an order for 20 tonnes of polyprop granuals ie a container may be delivered as 20,250kg or a multiple of 25kg bags or other packaging requirements. It is possible under the current schema to have a 0 tolerance on over deliveries by making this parameter equal to 0. By default it allows over delivery by 20%. Phil, Congrats on the only usable ERP on sourceforge ! I have a client who is interesting in web-erp, and I've been making quite a few changes (mostly bug fixes) over the last week or so. The main changes are : * - Added a Currencies page * - modified header.inc to use a stylesheet. with this lots of the html code can be reduced * - Disallowing receiving quantities to be greater than their corresponding purchase order * - Disallow deleting of branches if there are users referencing the branch * - Changed percentages to be read as percentages (0-100) not as fractions (0.0-1.0) * - Fix misc bugs in purchase order modifying * - added a flag $hide_incomplete_features * - checks in misc stock pages whether item is valid (eg. in StockCostUpdate.php) * - modified header.inc to use a stylesheet. with this lots of the html code can be reduced Depending on the outcome of this project, I would also be willing to make it localization-friendly, ie. move all the strings to language files. regards Sherif ----- Original Message ----- From: "Phil Daintree" <ph...@du...> To: <web...@li...> Sent: Sunday, June 22, 2003 1:21 PM Subject: [Web-erp-users] Version 0.1.8 Released > The latest archive has been uploaded today. > > There is a substantial re-vamp to the security schema that allows much closer > control over which pages users can access. > > Also additonal functionality in: > - inventory valuation report > - inventory planning report > - BOM listing report > - gl account inquiries > > Additional checks and balances on stock item changes. Hi Chris, Had a look at your set up. I noticed that u had no : areas, salesfolk, gl posting or sales types set up - you need all these to set up a customer and customer branch properly. Put in some silly defaults for u. The problem does occur through out the system - try putting in a payment or a receipt or matching receipts to invoices etc. These must be areas you have not been into - its a PHP/Apache set up snag for sure! Chris, So it must be to do with the set up of php then. I have sent my phpinfo() page to your personal address for your reference - its aboslutely plain vanilla as of version PHP 4.3.0 I notice you are using Apache 2 - I think there may be some issues with php and Apache 2 but I may be out of date here. I know I came unstuck here - it was too early when I last updated - and I went back to 1.3.2x Phil ----- Original Message ----- From: "Chris Bice" <cb...@me...> To: "Phil Daintree" <ph...@du...>; <web...@li...> Sent: Friday, May 16, 2003 4:26 AM Subject: Re: [Web-erp-users] Order entry error > I have noticed that if I change my /etc/php.ini file so that the > session.auto_start = 0 the order entry works great, however none of the menus > work, meaning if i click on the manufacturing tab, it still displays the > orders menu below it. Hi Chris, Sorry you are having trouble. I think this might be a session handling issue and I am surprised that many other elements of the system work at all. There is heavy reliance on sessions throughout the system. The line: include("DefineCartClass.php"); should be on the 9th line of the SelectOrderItems.php script. Can you tell me: - what version you are using - OS and web server - version of PHP - is your installation on the net - can I get in to look - is there phpMyAdmin on your server - is there a phpinfo() page that you could send the output to me - has this been the case since you installed the system or did it work before ? I still have yet to be able to enter a sales order. After you get this error, and you select the main menu to get out of it, anytime you go back into sales order it immediately gives you the following error: "Fatal error: The script tried to execute a method or access a property of an incomplete object. Hi Chris: I guess that's the best thing about this system - hardware requirements are pretty light. I'm running my database/webserver on a dual 233 box with a 10 gig hard drive and 128 meg of RAM, OS is RedHat 9.0. Currently my largest table has about 6600 records in it, and the total mySQL directory is 3.2meg in size. We are a pretty small company, but we have over 1000 items in our inventory. So far, in my testing, I haven't seen any kind of problems with performance of this meager system. Regards, Al From: Chris Bice <cb...@me...> To: web...@li... I was wanting to see a fairly large one so I could judge hardware needs and hd space with mysql. Also, is there a list of companies currently using the software? Thanks Chris |

Modifying invoices retrospectively is a nice to have for a single user system but a potential avenue for fraudsters in a multi user enviroment like this. It is considered poor form to have such functionality in a multi-user system for that reason. A proper audit trail requires that mistakes on invoices are corrected with a credit note and re-charge invoice. That's why the system has the facility to credit an entire invoice in only a few clicks. As Chris points out invoices can be modified by manipluating the database. Clearly in a commercial environment, security surrounding the database is a critical - as it is for any accounting system. The system is new ... I know there are some users on the list who have more substantial databases hopefully they will write to you privately. You can go into the Database and modify the coinciding entry within the DebtorTrans Table. Dear Sir, I have already installed web-erp, and filled it with all my data. I wonder if it is possible to modify invoices after they were already print it.
