k, good to know it's there. With the single transfer script ... I debated, albeit not long, over keeping it - I figured since it's just an extra step it wasn't that big a deal to remove it, but it doesn't really matter. Let me know if you need help correcting it. I've been thinking a little about Chris' undertaking & supporting Serial stock... hopefully I'll have some thoughts together soon... jesse Daintrees wrote: > Yes I put them in - I did write a note but had an email issue - so it > mustn't have gone! > > I did feel that the single stock transfer script was still of use in > the situation where an item has been transferred and the entry needs > to be made. I agree with you both on the ReOrder issue, I was looking at this with o= nly one location loaded up in the system and was thinking that when you = entered the ReOrder, it was the same for every LocStock Record, instead = of each one bieng independent. The idea with the re-order level being held against the LocStock record = is so that the inventory at each location can be managed independently. = eg consider a warehouse (location) where the consumption of a particular = part is 20 per month from that location vs a location where the = consumption is 2000 assuming the standard deviation of consumption is = similar for both locations the re-order level needs to be different for = each location. I have done it both ways historically and experience = showed me that re-order level by location is the way to go - so this is = a "comment" about a "concern" but not quite a "bitch"! I like the first way too - so the structure of the warehouse is defined = by the bins table. I've not done anything that requires a real warehouse, = shipping/fulfilling lots of stuff, etc... that said, I think re-order = levels need to some how be maintained for each location. Ok. I have had 4 meeting and kicked around this Idea so here it is. I propose we make a couple changes to the StockMaster and LocStock Tables. The First would be to remove the ReOrderLevel out of LocStock and put it in the StockMaster Table. This is Part Specific and is not needed in the LocStock Table. Because if a part has a ReOrder of 35, its not 35 Per Location, Normally its 35 for a Total OnHand. Ok the Second change could happen one of 2 Ways, the First would be to add a Table to the DB called Bins, In it would LocCode, BinCode. Then put a Field in LocStock That Corresponds to BinCode. This way you can see what Bins are currently available, and have a Screen on the Inventory Setup Screen For Bin Maintenance. OK I see. If we make cool javascript drop down menus - I am thinking that these would just not work if the browser did not have javascript available and that the page would already have the kludgy php option already ie there would not be seperate pages being called depending on a user setting - its all the same page the fall back option is built in. I think you and I have a different concept of optional. This is where I think we have been getting caught up on semantics. The way I was thinking is that if they turn the javascript options on then they can get the added javascript functionality. However, anything required in the system would need to also have an, albeit cludgier, way in php/html. For instance in my thought, if we built in javascript drop-sown menus then if the user selected the optional javascript then they would get the drop-downs, otherwise the alternate php/html interface would appear. While having javascript ignored in field focus works the way you describe below I was thinking about those things where you must take one road or the other such as menus. >I think it requires javascript though, right? Still it can work when users >select to use javascript in their user preferences. >Steve I dont think so - there is no javascript in the script. I don't have an option to use Javascript in the user preferences since as I recall we agreed Javascript would always be optional - ie the system could be used via an alternative PHP only way. eg. Moving focus between form fields could be done with the mouse. If javascript is in the script and the browser is not javascript capable then it is ignored and not processed - there is no need to have a disable/enable javascript option to my mind. I may be wrong here - but I didn't include this option in the UserSettings.php script. Phil |
