Just to let you know, I haven't let this fall by the wayside (honest ;) ).
I have been slaving away working on a final design for the PCB including the power amp, and I have also been attempting to overhaul the SD card driver to get it to read just a little bit faster. While I have it working, and yes it is a little bit faster (16 bit transfers instead of 8 bit, etc) there is an annoying regular "click" occurring that I just can't track down. It's like every so often the card takes twice as long to transfer a block of data than it should do - or takes twice as long to become "ready" to transfer a block. It's all very cryptic.
