I haven't used one of these before, but they are dirt cheap (<50p). Has anyone used one before? What's the quality like?
I have a couple on order from TI as samples (along with the LM4880 which is pin compatible with this one, but is somewhat more expensive, to compare it with).
Hopefully it should make it sound better on bare speakers - more in tune with embedded usage.

In the end, there is no telling what project this will get used on/in.. and being ale to just attached a simple 8 Ohm, hobby speaker, and still get decent sound/volume is helpful.
Unfortunately.. I only have a bit of experience with the LM386 amp..etc

I am looking at integrating a small power amplifier into the finished product.
The one I am looking at is this: http://www.ti.com/product/tpa6111a2

I'm going to knock up a few little daughter boards with these chips on to try it out. I'll send you one over to try if you like.
