In a previous posting, I mentioned problems (== segmentation fault) displaying images where the number of pixel bytes was > 100MB. The problem appears to be inside the function glutMainLoop called from vgui_glut_impl.cxx. Using Ian's suggestion, I added code to the get_copy_view method for the NITF stuff to call vil_decimate until the image data is less than 100MB. However, this limitation only shows up when trying to display an image. Users may want to apply algorithms on an image at full resolution, so it seems to me that get_copy_view should not be limiting the image size. Although right now the only image types which seem to have a problem are NITF images, it seems to me that the code to make sure the image data is less than 100MB should be somewhere in vgui.
