According to a recent report http://www.cdt.org/speech/spam/030319spamreport.shtml Some of the conclusions are that a) E-mail addresses harvested from the public Web are most frequently used by spammers. b) E-mail addresses harvested from the public Web appear to have a relatively short "shelf life." c) Obscuring an e-mail address is an effective way to avoid spam from harvesters on the Web or on USENET newsgroups Obfuscating the email addresses vxl...@li... (7 hits on google) and vxl...@li... (6 hits) on their web pages might be a simple step to take - albeit not an immediate solution - and one that wouldn't hurt potential new users much.
