Have you looked at this pull request? https://github.com/vufind-org/vufind/pull/11 This adds an AJAX endpoint for sending out facet data. I think it needs some refinement (since I'm technically on vacation this week, I haven't spent much time looking at the code), but I wonder if taking a look at that might give you some ideas. It might be useful to come up with a more generic facet data API for VuFind to use in various ways. - Demian From: Joe Atzberger [mailto:jo...@bo...] Sent: Friday, August 16, 2013 2:52 PM To: Demian Katz Cc: vufind-tech Tech Subject: Re: [VuFind-Tech] Facet JSON There is also the cached set of facets from the advanced search page. I'm trying to build a more dynamic browse visualization of the dataset, certainly using jquery, possibly D3. (Imagine Aquabrowser without the flash.) The facets are the easiest place to start, and jquery prefers to consume any data as JSON. More broadly, from a template extension perspective, I frequently find myself wanting to be able to get all the data that goes into the main body template as JSON. Obviously, I'm not trying to build an HTML-only interface... and in practice I haven't even tried to since Koha in 2008. So any advice you have more generally would be great. --joe |
