Items that have a URL in the record or which cause an OpenURL to be generated will suppress the circulation status on the assumption that these are online resources and the data is not applicable. - Demian From: Jon Singletary [mailto:jw...@an...] Sent: Tuesday, May 21, 2013 11:13 AM To: Demian Katz; vuf...@li... Subject: RE: Checked out message accuracy Thanks Demian, this is starting to make sense. This particular book is not allowed to circulate, so apparently that restriction causes the "Checked out" message to appear. I have one more question, however. In the list of results, sometimes we see "Available" or "Checked out", but sometimes there is no message at all. Do you know what would cause the message to disappear? Thanks again, Jon From: Demian Katz [mailto:dem...@vi...] Sent: Friday, May 17, 2013 7:34 PM To: Jon Singletary; vuf...@li... Subject: RE: Checked out message accuracy On the results page, there are only two statuses that show up: "Available" or "Checked Out." The "Checked Out" string really means "unavailable for some reason." (I've customized the text for Villanova's instance to say "Unavailable (click title for more details)," which is really more accurate. Is the item actually available for checkout, or is it just showing a more accurate unavailable status on the record page? Note that if you turn on the expanded availability status in config.ini, that will also resolve this situation by showing the full availability information in the search results (though at the cost of some screen real estate). Let me know if you need more details on anything, or if the problem appears to be different from what I'm describing. - Demian ________________________________ From: Jon Singletary [jw...@an...] Sent: Friday, May 17, 2013 4:47 PM To: vuf...@li... Subject: [VuFind-General] Checked out message accuracy Hello, VuFind shows one of our items in the search results as "checked out" although that's not true. After clicking the item and going to the details page, the checked out warning goes away as it should. Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution? We're using VuFind 1.4 with the Symphony Web Services driver. Thanks, Jon Jon Singletary, Library Systems Specialist, Carnegie Mellon University, jw...@an...<mailto:jw...@an...> |
