[VuFind-General] How to place focus on the search box? (VF 1.1)

Hi all,

When Search Home loads, one has to click on the input box before typing 
keywords. I find it rather annoying and new users are a bit confused.

Is it possible to place focus on the input box by default using Smarty? 
  I know it`s possible in javascript, but I guess it would require 
creating a new js plugin, or altering the yui autocomplete, which is 
still too difficult for me.
