Dear VuFind Community, Some background first: We are the New Jersey Academic Libraries (Virtual Academic Library Environment of NJ, http://www.valenj.org), consisting of fifty plus libraries. Our task is to evaluate and implement a discovery tool (OPAC) for our union catalog project. Our alpha implementation team consists of five libraries. At this stage we don't have a centralized ILS. And each libraries' ILS are from different vendors. We want to use VuFind to display not only bib records but also holding/item records from each library. It would be a plus that VuFind can show the item availability, even it's not in real time. We have some general questions for the VuFind community, and hope someone have the answers or point us at the right direction. 1. Without a centralized ILS, how can the holdings/items information be displayed? What's the best way to do it? 2. Is there a way for VuFind to connect to each libraries's ILS to get the real time item availability information on the fly? If not, what is the closest thing that can be done? 3. What will happen to features like My Account, renewal and placing hold? We thank you in advance for your help and insight.
