Well, here is what's happening -- VuFind is making this request:

http://syndetics.com/index.aspx?isbn=0192817906/index.xml&client=xxx&type=rw12,hw7

(where xxx = your Syndetics client ID).

Syndetics replies with this:

VuFind is looking for a <DBCHAPTER> tag in there.  Since there is no DBCHAPTER, it cannot display an excerpt.

Unfortunately, I didn't write the original Syndetics code, and I can't seem to find any API documentation, so I'm not sure what the "type=rw12,hw7" setting means.  Perhaps something needs to be adjusted there to solve the problem.  Do you have any idea what this means?  Might you be able to get in touch with Syndetics to ask for API documentation?  My Syndetics account is a demo account set up long ago for VuFind development, so I don't want to bother them myself -- they'll probably respond better to a paying subscriber!
