The "show databases" command only works while you're logged into the MySQL tool; that failed because the MySQL login failed. Is it possible you have no root password set? If you just type: mysql -u root Does that let you in? If not, it seems like the most likely explanation is a bad root password. Is it possible one of the common password problems (caps lock on, etc.) happened the first time, and now you just can't get in the way you expect? Another option, if you don't have any important information in your database, might be to remove and reinstall MySQL. You can also find a lot of MySQL troubleshooting advice by entering the access denied error in Google. For example, this thread has a few suggestions that might help: http://lists.mysql.com/mysql/481 Good luck! Hopefully when you get MySQL straightened out, VuFind should start behaving for you. - Demian > -----Original Message----- > From: andrewdps [mailto:mst...@gm...] > Sent: Thursday, March 04, 2010 9:34 PM > To: vuf...@li... > Subject: Re: [VuFind-Tech] Vufind DB Error:connect failed > > > No,I guess there's something wrong in this step... > > mysql -u root -p command in the terminal gave me an o/p something like > this... > > root@raghu-laptop:/usr/local/vufind# mysql -u root -p > Enter password: > ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using > password: YES) > > But I've created a root user and I used it perfectly while installing > Vufind...Am I doing something wrong?? > > When I run the command 'show databases',it gives me > > root@raghu-laptop:/usr/local/vufind# show databases > The program 'show' is currently not installed.
