Looks like Andrew loaded MARC21slim2RDFDC.xsl in r1724, then almost immediately reverted it in r1726 with the revision comment "reverted back to mods output - DC is generally accepted but not descriptive enough for marc." As far as I can tell, we are not currently using an LC-supplied sheet. In fact, from a bit of Googling based on the embedded revision history, the XSL we're using seems to be related to this file in the Jangle project: http://code.google.com/p/jangle/source/browse/trunk/xsl/AtomMARC21slim2MODS3-2.xsl (I'm not sure if it comes directly from Jangle or if they just have a common ancestor... but they're related in some fashion!) If the current MODS output is not valid RDF, should we switch back to the LC sheet even though it provides relatively sparse data? Seems like having sparse but correct data is better than having detailed but invalid output. I still have a lot to learn with regard to all these different metadata formats, though, so I don't want to take any action without input from people with a bit more experience. - Demian ________________________________________ From: Ross Singer [ros...@gm...] Sent: Monday, November 23, 2009 5:58 PM To: Andrew Nagy Cc: M....@ls...; vuf...@li... Google doesn't bring anything up, although there's a MARC2RDFDC: http://www.loc.gov/standards/marcxml/xslt/MARC21slim2RDFDC.xsl Although that doesn't make terribly sophisticated Dublin Core (basically oai_dc wrapped in RDF tags). > > Is this an invalid approach to RDF? It's not that it's an invalid approach so much as it's not RDF. -Ross. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Let Crystal Reports handle the reporting - Free Crystal Reports 2008 30-Day trial.
