Luke - I think you might be misunderstanding the use of Subversion. If you are looking to tweak your vufind instance and want to contribute your enhancements back to the community, or you want to help with the development efforts of VuFind, then you need to have developer access to the subversion repository. However, to get the latest code, anyone can use subversion to fetch it from the public repository. It also helps with keeping your code up to date as changes are made.
