If there are enough solaris users, maybe this could be embedded into the build instructions. That is, where ever the "make" command appears in the build instructions, replace it with make MAKE=/Gnu/Make/Path/make CC=/Gcc/Path/gcc CCX=/Gcc/Path/gcc Remaining Arguments That ensures that *everything* uses the right "make" and gcc.
