It may be a problem between the TightVNC viewer and the VNC server for Debian. I'd find out which distribution of VNC Debian uses and use the same (Windows version, of course) distribution for the viewer. Or, maybe TightVNC packages a .deb package of their version and you can use that instead. I've found that trying to use RealVNC with a TightVNC Server and vice versa doesn't work well. -----Original Message----- From: vnc...@li... Subject: Problem with slow connection and high CPU useage This is my first time playing with tightvnc so I am not sure what to expect in performance. The VNC server is sat on a Windows XP Home PC (AMD XP2400 with 750mb memory), the client PC I am using is a Debian Linux PC. I connect by using the KDE program Remote desktop connection (KRDC) which is just a front end (I beleive) for xvncviewer. I can make the connection ok but when trying to use the connection it can be slow and jerky. The two PC's sit on the same 100mbits network (a maximum of 6mtrs of cat5 cabling apart), the WinXP box is running at 45% + even with the vnc client connected but just sat looking at the desktop, start doing anything the and cpu useage is 90%+ I don't have an encryption running, I have selected, high quality lan connection from KRDC. Am I expecting to much or is there a problem somewhere else?? Tim ___________________________________________________________ Yahoo!
