#951 UAC 'landmines' still an issue

No

v2.0 beta1 works quite nicely on XP and 7, but I was disappointed to see that it still has the issue where clicking any shortcut requiring account-elevation will freeze the session. Since you can never know exactly where this will happen, it's like walking a minefield.

I guess this is mainly down-to bad coding practices by Microsoft, but it's a major issue if VNC is to be used to provide support to home users or the like. I'd kinda been hoping that v2 would offer a solution!

Microsoft's own Remote Desktop doesn't suffer this issue, although it has other issues which make it less suitable for general support-work than VNC. (And I guess MS won't tell you what they did to get round the problem...)

You should use TIghtVNC as a service in order to solve this problem. From the TightVNC menus, choose Register Service, then Start Service.

UAC windows show up on a secure desktop not accessible by application, and Microsoft made that intentionally to make it impossible for applications to press those Continue buttons programmatically.

In other words, that's not a bug.

Should I close this report, or there is something that should be considered a bug?
