#798 VNC WON'T CONNECT

I installed the newest version of vnc on windows xp pro and home. The install went perfectly. When I put in my passwords then click appy and ok apparently it's not saving my passwords. When I go back to check it the default passwords are back. When I bring up the viewer and try to connect to the other pc it says trying to connect for about 30 seconds then says it cannot connect. I have tried running it as a service and server. Neither will connect.
