We have this problem with tightvnc 1.2.9. After a
windows server 2003 has been up for a while on the
console the username and password fields will be greyed
out when trying to login. Going in through remote
desktop still works correctly. We dont have this problem
with 2k3 servers that aren't running winvnc 3.3.7.
I've noticed other users on newsgroups with this problem
on 2k3 and replied to them asking if they run tightvnc
2.3.9 and they do.

Have you tested this with the 1.3 dev 3 version of tightvnc
yet? No further development is planned on the 1.2.9 code, all
work now is going towards stabilizing the 1.3 code.
Thanks,
David Troesch

I am having this problem as well. I have opened a case with
Microsoft and they are being quite responsive. The problem
appears to be in the handling/replacing/modifying of the
GINA.DLL or MSGINA.DLL file - this file handles the Control-Alt-
Delete login function. Someone from TightVNC please
contact me directly so I can patch together a conversation
with Microsoft. Please let me know what TightVNC does
to/with the GINA.DLL file. Thanks!

On XP you can normally create this problem by doing the
following:
1. Make sure PC is logged off locally
2. Log in remotely via RDP
3. Log off RDP
4. ctrl-alt-del locally to login
5. Boxes are greyed out

I've tried to reproduce the issue but have not succeeded (I
used TightVNC version 1.3.8).
Could someone please test version 1.3.8? -- is there a
difference in this aspect between 1.2.9 and 1.3.8?
Thank you,
Constantin

Have been running RealVNC for some time without problems;
Switched over to TightVNC 1.3.8 last week and now have the greyed problem;
Has been a nightmare to find some info and now seeing that this is open sice Jan 2004!!!
Does make a good reason not to go for TIghtVNC anymore.

I am having this issue as well (2007) in Winxp SP2 and Win2K3 Server SP2 running TightVNC 1.3.9
I get the same symptoms as the users already commented. The logon and password fields in XP and 03 server are greyed out and unuseable. Only a reboot brings the logon page back to normal operating conditions.
Has there been any progress towards solving this issue?
This is still an issue to date.... This is the only main issue we have had with TightVNC, but may be enough of a nuisance to finally switch back to another variant.
Still causing greyed-out problems using version 1.3.9 on Win XP SP2 & SP3.
