Hey Artur,

Thanks for the patch! Mikolaj and I have incorporated it into the latest
CVS and the 1.5 branch.

I hope you are using the 1.5 branch to create the .deb packages. I have
been updating the 1.5 .tar.gz archives on the latex-suite web-page with
the bug fixes... Or if you use cvs, checkout the vimfiles module from
cvs.vim-latex.sf.net:/cvsroot/vim-latex with the "-b release-1-5" tag.

I hope we will move to the main branch again, but I beleive it still has
a few "kinks" to be worked out..

BTW, I just changed over to Debian on my home machine :-) It was a very
pleasant surprise to see "apt-cache search vim" also show
vim-latexsuite! Very nice :) Its nice to see you maintaining it so well.

I still feel kinda lost in debian though. I am very new to linux/unix in
general and that compounds the problems. But I am pretty impressed by
all I see and will definitely not go back. My present annoyance is that
I cannot seem to get at a pine which will support remembering passwords
in a .pine.pwd file like PC-pine used to. With my multiple accounts, its
a real pain to type all those passwords each time.

Anyway... I digress...

After some experimentation, it seems to be a bug from LatexSuite: it
only happens (in any buffer) after the tex ftplugin has been loaded.

I couldn't reproduce both bugs (neither Evgenij nor Klaus) but I spotted
another one. But in another configuration it can cause similar problems.

As of now, I have only tested things with cygwin grep on windows.
Unfortunately, I do not really know of any other grep programs for
windows. I tried looking at a few after I got your e-mail and it looks
like the grep you have will not work with latex-suite.

Consider installing cygwin grep. Otherwise, I can suggeset a patch to
make the grep call customizable... But then I cannot guarantee that it
will be able to work with latex-suite.

Its quite a big download though... But it has numerous other benefits
too...

You have to use gnu-grep (or compatible) with -H option.

	I've started recently my adventure with Latex-suite and I wanted to 
thank you for your work - it's a great package - exactly what I need to 
work on LaTeX files plus more. I'm using Windows version of gVim and 
I;ve got one little problem with compiling my .tex's with 'pdflatex'. If 
filename was simple - without any spaces - everything worked well, but I 
like to put some spaces in my filenames (for better esthetic impression 
& much easier identification of my files - long names help to maintain 
good order of work). That's the point where things went bad. Compiler 
refused to cooperate and stopped with a message "Can't find file" or 
something like that. I've started searching for reason of such behavior. 
  Soon I've discovered what it was. Command formed for external process 
of compilation is good for Unix-like systems but not for Windows. 
Windows don't support escape characters (in this case '\' before ' ') 
before whitespaces - instead of this double quotes are used for marking 
filename phrase.  So if I want to compile 'simple example.tex', I should 
use the following command:

Otherwise 'pdflatex' reports a nasty set of errors :(. Anyway I've told 
you a touchig story ;). I've tried to cope with this situation and this 
is what I've done:
All changes was made in 'ftplugin/latex-suite/compiler.vim'. Originally 
there are two sections in 'function! Tex_CompileLatex()':

think that it could be helpful for other Windows users.

Hello,

I think that the RC for 1.5 has had enough time to collect bugs. It has
in fact collected a considerable number of bugs/fixes over the weeks it
has been announced. Its time for the actual release.

However, there have been a lot of "unstable" (or at least
"non-bug-fixing") changes in latex-suite over the last month. IMHO,
these changes are not trivial enough to include in the 1.5 release.
Therefore, I am restricting the 1.5 release to the date of September 16
2003 (or before). All changes after that date will go into a future
release. The most notable change includes the Tex_FindInRtp function and
its use in various parts of latex-suite. In my preliminary testing, it
didn't work on Windows GVIM. I could fix the bugs by changing
Tex_FindInRtp, but I think its better to delay this change to the next
release (1.6?). I am also working on improving the part compilation
feature of latex-suite.

A new branch called b-release-1-5 has been created in CVS and any future
bug-fixes should be made on that branch and then merged into the main
trunk. Please ask if you are unsure about this procedure.

Anyway, I shall be making a short announcement to vi...@vi... in a few
days about the release and also uploading the next release onto
http://vim.sf.net.
