Hello,
I would like to report a possible joystick compatibility issue in VICE 3.10 GTK3 on Windows.
Hardware:
The encoder has been tested in both available modes:
The problem occurs in both modes.
Windows detects the controller correctly:
Other emulators also recognize the controller correctly:
However, in VICE GTK3 the controller can be selected, but only the buttons seem to be recognized. The joystick directions are not detected.
Observed behavior:
The same controller also appears to have similar issues in CCS64.
Since the encoder works correctly in Windows and in other emulators, this may indicate a compatibility issue with the way some C64 emulators handle this type of USB arcade encoder.
This may be either a compatibility problem or a bug in the input handling layer, since the controller works correctly in Windows and in other emulators.
Could you please investigate whether support for this controller type could be improved in a future release of VICE?
Thank you very much for your work on VICE.
Best regards
Please have a look at the development build: https://github.com/VICE-Team/svn-mirror
It has configurable controller mapping now, so you should be able to make it work
Hello,
I tested the latest development build.
The new Joystick Mappings feature solved the problem.
VICE correctly detects the Retrok RK-3D.ARC.ED controller. After manually mapping:
Axis X min -> Left
Axis X max -> Right
Axis Y min -> Up
Axis Y max -> Down
the joystick works correctly and the direction indicators respond properly.
Thank you very much for your help and for implementing this feature.
Best regards,
have fun :)
