#471 FD-2000/4000 Not Accesible / Burst Mode bug

Hi!

Long time not fixed bug: FD-2000/4000 is in x128 not accessible. In case of x64 and xscpu64 no problem.
In case when I add own ROM is possible to get UI, not more, at access (incl. Boot-sequence) hangs.
If I leave ROM image default by VICE access of FD-2000/4000 outputs:
?DEVICE NOT PRESENT ERROR
Emulator indicated that drive is connected.
In VICE 2.4 was access no problem, working fine, all versions of VICE after 2.4 can not work with these both drive types.

Please fix this important bug! It makes me my D2M and D4M images possible to use only with VICE 2.4.

i am not sure what you are trying to say. VICE comes without the FD2000/4000 ROMs, so the respective drives/images do not work when true drive emulation is enabled

What I'm trying to say?
Of course that standard ROMs in VICE used can not work.
I used for FD-4000 ROM CMD FD-4000 DOS V1.40 FD-350022.bin
And for FD-2000 ROM CMD FD-2000 DOS V1.40 CS 33CC6F.bin
These ROM images are working correctly in VICE 2.4 also with TDE (true drive emulation)
Since VICE 2.4.x these drives are not working and are not accessible - every access hanging computer or writes simple ?DEV NOT PRESENT error...
So, if I want to use my D1M, D2M, D4M images, I must to forget all advantages for VICE 2.4.x and always use 2.4
These drives working correctly in case of x64, x64sc and xscpu64 also in TDE in all versions of VICE 2.4.x

It looks like C64 is the top most computer and C128 is something unwanted...
Why these drives have no problem in emulation of Commodore 64 amd in emulation of Commodore 128 are working not?

I must to use for emulation Commodore 128 in VICE 2.4.x always 1581 drive...

Else one Q, for now out of theme, but forgot VICE developers SCPU128?
Commodore 64 is not only one Commodore computer... but it seems that developers of VICE means that is only one...

C128 burst mode is broken since r27111 due to VIA changes for drives which implement burst mode with a VIA shift register (1571/81 are fine, they use a CIA instead).

Other functions of VIA-based drives are unaffected, they work without any issues in x128 if burst mode is completely avoided.

Ok, while is VIA broken how to avoid Burst mode in x128?
Or where to download WinVice r27111 ? I was searching web and nowhere found, also not on vice.pokefinder.org... It's for now old release.
