The user should at least get a notification that there is a new version. This is "critical when security software is concerned" (Source: veracrypt.fr ;-)).
Also there are still links to the old website in v1.19 ...
This is a good idea
You need to upgrade to the latest version of VeraCrypt to get the updated links in the software.
The reason there is no notification is due to VeraCrypt does not have a network component to check for any updates. Some users prefer not having VeraCrypt access the network/internet due their oppressive countries monitoring their internet traffic.
It could be turned off by default so that everyone else can use this function ...
I agree with this as well. It was bad enough when I realized Audacity didn't have an auto-update feature, but Veracrypt?
I can understand how certain users would feel resistant towards allowing the program to access the internet behind the scenes, but this open source. Anything that gets implemented will be checked accordingly.
As someone mentioned, if this feature can't be implemented by default, then don't.
At least offer this for us so that we can be notified and or run an update.
