I have an external hard drive which is encrypted via VeraCrypt but after recently updating my PC to Windows 10 (from Windows 7), I am having trouble mounting a volume to access files. Two error messages appear:
'Error: An incompatible version of the VeraCrypt driver is currently running'
'Unable to connect to VeraCrypt device driver. Veracrypt cannot work if the device driver is not running.'
Does anyone have any suggestions of how to solve this problem so that I can access my encrypted files?

If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
I would put aside the external drive you cannot mount for the time being.
Try encrypting some other external drive, like a flash drive, to see if the VeraCrypt installation works.
Then try mounting that flash drive on another PC that has VeraCrypt.
If any of this does not work, uninstall VeraCrypt from your PC then reinstall.
On the plus side, the error message flags a problem with the VeraCrypt installation or perhaps there is a conflict that is preventing it from running, rather than a problem with the encrypted volume.

Not a power user.
