Hi ,guys , I created a volume as someone not fully experienced with Veracrypt out of a 2TB esternal 2.0 usb drive ;its really only 1.81 as its the way they sell them. The thing is whem I created the volume ,I selected full amount 1.81tb how ever, though when it created a volume ; then I check the Properties its showing 0.97TB as Used space & 862GB as Free space. Anyone please know why this might be ?

Please clarify how you created the volume.

In the GUI, did you select the device showing as 1.81 TB as partitionN or did you create a file container on the 1.81 TB drive?

Which format did you select in the GUI? (FAT, NTFS, etc.)

Did you create a hidden volume?

    Which OS and version?

    Which version of VeraCrypt?

In the GUI, did you select the device showing as 1.81 TB as partitionN where N is the number of the partition i.e. partition0 or did you create a large file container on the 1.81 TB drive?

With the VeraCrypt volume dismounted, can you post the screenshots of the GUI when you click select device and Windows Disk Management?

    Didnt see any PartitionN.

I did create a large partition that I hope would cover the whole 1.8TB

Am not able to mount it with Veracrypt Auto mount or just Mount

    file:///C:/Users/crtv/Pictures/vracrypt.jpg

It sounds like you removed the partition and encrypted the device verses one partition of the entire device.

I cannot see your screenshot. You will need to upload to a site that can be accessed.

I wish SourceForge would allow attaching pictures to their site without having to use third party sites.

Thanks for the screenshots. However, I wanted to see the screenshot of the window in VeraCrypt that shows-up when you click on Select Device. The other screenshot is when you use Windows Disk Management to see the drive from Windows OS.

Can you post those two screenshots?
