I use veracrypt on Windows10 and Linux
Windows veracrypt version is: 1.23-Hotfix-2 64 bit
Linux version is 1.23 on openSuse Leap15.1 (same with latest Ubuntu LTS)
The veracrypt Volume is formated with FAT.
When I create a file or folder from Windows with diacritical character like öäü ... These render the filename or folder unusable in Linux.
While when I create a file or folder with diacritical characters from Linux these are shown on windows with very strange symbols
This only happens inside of veracrypt volumes.
The same file and folder names on a FAT formated USB stick work fine.
Hi,
I have the following issue:
I use veracrypt on Windows10 and Linux
Windows veracrypt version is: 1.23-Hotfix-2 64 bit
Linux version is 1.23 on openSuse Leap15.1 (same with latest Ubuntu LTS)
The veracrypt Volume is formated with FAT.

While when I create a file or folder with diacritical characters from Linux these are shown on windows with very strange symbols
This only happens inside of veracrypt volumes.
The same file and folder names on a FAT formated USB stick work fine.
Any idea what I can do?
Cheers

Hi,
interestingly, if the volume is formated with NTFS the diacritical characters are fine both on Windows and Linux.
I will convert the FAT formated volume to NTFS.
