I have used TrueCrypt for several years with Windows 7 and I log in with the aid of RoboForm password manager (it has the ability to log in to applications as well as websites). This has been working successfully for years. When TrueCrypt stopped development and VeraCrypt took over development, I of course installed VeraCrypt to use with my TrueCrypt-format container. On filling in the VeraCrypt login form, RoboForm recognises it as a login and offers to save the login information so that it can fill in the form for me at future logins. After accepting the offer (by pressing Save), RoboForm instructs me to proceed by pressing Submit/OK on the VeraCrypt login form.

When I do this, it puts VeraCrypt, and in quick succession, the whole of the PC into a tight death loop. The only thing I can do then is cut power to the PC and then do a cold boot. I do not even have the luxury of doing any troubleshooting before it crashes.

However, a RoboForm Passcard is created before the crash, but all that is on the card is the message "Cannot read Login 'VeraCrypt': Wrong file format".

As a result, I have had to revert to using TrueCrypt where I can use RoboForm to manage a long and complex container password.

This problem has persisted over several versions of both RoboForm and VeraCrypt. I have no idea whether the problem is in RoboForm or VeraCrypt, so I am starting in this VeraCrypt forum. Has anyone else struck this problem or know of a solution? Or even whether it is a RoboForm or VeraCrypt problem, or just that RoboForm doesn't understand the VeraCrypt login format? Obviously the format has changed from the TrueCrypt one.

I also use two other password managers (LastPass and DashLane), but they only work with browsers - RoboForm is the only one I have found that also works with applications.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Pete.

      VeraCrypt 1.15.6
      RoboForm 7.9.16.7

Problem resolved. On advice from elsewhere, I stopped my security system and a nonstop backup service temporarily. One or the other (maybe both) were apparently interfering with the passcard creation (although in many years of using RoboForm I have never seen this problem with any other app or website). The RoboForm passcard was created successfully for VeraCrypt login. The security and nonstop backups were reinstated and I can now log in to VeraCrypt at any time using the new passcard.

    This issue is closed.

Thank you Pete for sharing your findings. This is indeed strange and your solution will certainly be beneficial to other users who may encounter this issue.
