This problem is reported also elsewhere, but they are all old topics regarding old versions, and mine seems to be at least somewhat reproductible.
I have at work a 3TB external USB HDD which was being dismounted at random, at first I thought it was the USB3 90° adapter going to my laptop so I removed that and I attached that disk to an external 3.0 hub, it APPEARS the problem was solved.
But right now I am using an external 250GB mechanical disk attached via a SATA-USB3 adapter, said disk has been extensively used in non encrypted situations with no problems whatsover, just today I created an encrypted volume and was using it to create images on it with Macrium reflect.
And here the problems started, continuous dismounts prevented me to complete even one image.
After reading topics on here I set the disk to "never shut down" in all power plans, and the USB auto suspend blah blah always disabled.
Still it happens.
By chance, a while ago, I got to open the Macrium Reflect panel where the imaging was being completed (I had already done several images, and also clones, on the unencrypted disk, without any problems), and I noticed that the autodismount was put in effect right after the imaging of the last partition was completed.
By reviewing the logs of the previous failes imagings, I noticed the same thing happened.
So right now I'm doing one last image (while this is being done, I disabled the force auto-dismount even if there are open files blah blah) to report on the results in here.

...there, this is the very first image I can complete succesfully, supposedly because I disabled the "force auto-dismount even if volume contains open files or directories" under preferences.
For science, I'm going to try again after enabling that option.

I don't know what to think anymore, the imaging just completed succesfully even with the force auto-dismount enabled now, but it failed 6 times in a row before because of auto-dismounts.
Is there any logging I can provide if/when this happens again?

Could you post a screenshot of your 'Preferences'?
As you requested.
The only change I made was disabling the force auto-dismount... as per my previous posts, and then reenabling it.
