    Hi guys

I would like to know if there is any way to fully encrypt a partition (non system partition) without losing the content of it?
Also is the automatic mount the favorite volume available on macOS version of VeraCrypt or preferably auto mount a system favorite volume?

I do my best to reply on all posts...obviously, the volume is too high compared to the free time available I have especially that I also take care of development. Alex takes care of EFI related questions and other users reply on many questions but some questions can remain unanswered until I intervene on them.

    Concerning the OP questions:

    • In-Place encryption is only available on Windows with NTFS partitions. On Linux and MacOSX this is not possible. The reason is that VeraCrypt needs to re-organize the data on the data in order to put them on the first sectors at the beginning of the partition before encrypting data in-place. On Windows, we can do this thanks to a native NTFS API on Windows but we don't know how to do this on other platforms and for other file systems. The current mechanism of In-Place encryption was taken as it is from TrueCrypt and I have already thought about ways to remove this limitation while maintaining rebostness of In-Place encryption. For now, I have nothing stable.
    • Automatic mounting is not implemented in Linux and MacOSX. Historically, this was not done because of a lack of standard way on Linux and MacOSX to execute custom commands when the user opens a session or when the system starts. Things evolved and there are some technical solution for this. Anyway, favorite mechanism in Linux and MacOSX needs rewriting in order to make it as rich as in Windows.
