Encrypted a USB drive on Windows 10 and had no problems for months except annoying boot up messages not recognizing the drive and asking for reformat.
After October 27th 2019, my encrypted USB drive was nowhere to be found. It shows up on Windows as a normal E: drive and Veracrypt automount can not find it anymore.
I traced back a Windows 10 update on the 26th and system restored, but didn't help.

@captain9g: if you can access the content of E:, then this means Windows has formatted the drive somehow (maybe Windows update did this) and so you should follow @philip1069 advice to manually select the drive and also selecting the option to mount using the embedded backup header. After this you should be able to mount the drive but it will probably not be recognizd so you will have to use recovery software on the mounted volume to try to salvage data.

This may sound like an overly simple question, but.
Have you tried to manually select a drive letter then manually select your USB drive to open it?
