I hve VeraCrypt 1.19 installaed on a Window 10 version 1703 system. Several of my preferences are being ignored.

"Preserve modification timestamps of the containers" is unchecked but the container timestamp never changes.

All of the Auto-Dismount options are checked and the inactivity timeout is set to 30 minutes, but the container is never automatically dismounted. I am mostly interested in the dismount happening when the computer goes to sleep (which, I assume, is the "Entering power saving mode" option). I understand that that the Windows hybrid sleep and/or fast boot options interfere may with this VeraCrypt option and I cannot guarantee I've got them disabled,

If the "power saving mode" option is ineffective I would settle for the "screen saver" or "no read/write activity" options. I don't have a "screen saver" (Does anybody now?) but I have Windows set to turn off the display after 15 minutes of inactivity. Is that not the same thing as far as VeraCrypt is concerned?

Just as a test I changed the inactivity time to 29 minutes an verified that the configuration file had been updated. It had.

You can check both using the information at the link below and disable both fast startup and hibernate. Then reboot PC.

Do you have in Settings > Preferences >
VeraCrypt Background Task set to Enabled?
Actions to perform upon login to Windows > Start VeraCrypt Background Task set to Enabled?

I thought I had followed it in the past, but I had inconsistant results. No Hibernate options were available under the advanced Power settings, but I still had a hiberfil.sys file. It's gone now.

VeraCrypt Background Task set to Enabled?

      Yes

Actions to perform upon login to Windows > Start VeraCrypt Background Task set to Enabled?

Oops. No. But now I do.

I'll give this a try now.

Update: That fixed it. Thank you.

Update #2: Correction. That fixed my auto-dismount problem. However, the container timestamp is still not being changed even when I do a manual dismount, and even if I exit VeraCrypt. I understand that preserving the timestamp is for plausible deniability, but I'm not interested in that. I need the timestamp to reflect a change so that my VeraCrypt container gets backed up when its contence changes.

Just in case I've misunderstood how the option works I've tried "Preserve modification timestamps of the containers" checked and unchecked (making changes to files in each case). Either way the container's timestamp has remained unchanged. Is there some other option that needs to be set?
