I messed around with keyboard layouts and now I'm unable to boot to windows, however I booted to Linux and connected the hard drive - I am able to access my files, but I want to restore the system, however I cannot enter the password...

How can I decrypt or change the password of a system volume in this situation? Or if course restore it in any other way - I really don't want to reinstall windows and spend hours backing up and restoring my files... :/

First, did you create a VC rescue disc? If so, you should be able to enter your pword or at least decrypt the partition from that boot CD/flash drive .Do you know the password you used? How many different keyboard layouts did you mess with? If you can remember what keyboard layout you used when creating your pword, you should be ok. As long you know the sequence of keys typed, keep trying that pword key sequence with each layout you messed with. That should eventually work. Without knowing your pword or at least keys typed your probably in for a hassle. That's what I would do...
