i'm using VeraCrypt since a few days and have three questions/request and i hope someone of you can help me.
I noticed that when i encrypt my windows partition on my ssd i only have the choice between RIPEMD-160 and SHA256. When i use a veracrypt container i get a lot of more option (SHA 256, SHA 512, Whirlpool). I know that the reason for the less choice by system encryption is the VeraCrypt Bootloader.
So i want to ask wether this limitation are fixed with the next VeraCrypt Version (1.24) because i would prefer SHA512 or even better Whirlpool as Hash Algo by encryption system partition.
I use a NVMe SSD 970 Pro from Samsung and from one of contacts i heard that the lifetime of SSDs could be reduced because of missing wear leveling. Is it really a concerning factor or doesn't it matter?
Last point which i want to ask is whether it is normal that the windows logo stays ~8 minutes until the login screen of windows comes after the VeraCrypt bootloader disappears. I read the github issue and know that the SSD performance of VeraCrypt isn't the best but so much time until the windows login screen appears is a little bit frustating.
The system when it is up reacts as quickly as before the encryption but the booting needs as said very much time. So i'm wondering about the long time boot time and want ask whether this normal. If yes, are there any performance improvements in the next VeraCrypt version or must i live with this?
My PIM is the default and my password has 42 signs. I use Serpent as encryption and SHA256 as Hash.
My System:
1 TB SSD 970 Pro
Ryzen 1700x
16 GB DDR4 RAM
Asus Strix b350-f gaming
Aorus GTX 1080 Ti
I hope i open the thread in the right topic (if not sry) and hope for usefull answers to my answers.
