    Hi, sorry if this topic is already discussed, as I didn't find a solution after trying for three days, I just post this problem here.

    I have a dd-wrt Router with a connected HDD drive and access to all that via FTP/SMB/SFTP
    And on this HDD is a Veracrypt file

    To connect to this server I use a Linux Mint OS on which I mounted the FTP/SMB/SFTP via fstab into local folders in /mnt
    Now, when I try to access this file with Veracrypt, it happens that I get errors via FTP/SFTP. I can't read or write this file. Note that it's no problem at all to read/write other files with other apps on this server e.g. text documents, movies, whatever. It seems that it's only veracrypt having some kind of problems. Errors are always somthing like "not supported" (interestingly enough in Mint system language as it is german and veracrypt runs in english)
    and "VeraCrypt::File::Open:232"

    I must say, via SMB it works but it's definitly the least prefered method of all.
    I tried four different FTP-Servers as well as two SFTP-Servers. No changes there.
    Any thoughts on this?

    Hi,

    This issue has been already answered here: https://veracrypt.codeplex.com/discussions/644377

    You'll find in the link above the explanation and a solution.

    First, thanks for your help. As I went through the thread you posted, I noticed two things:

    • It is about Cifs (Samba), the way i do not prefer and the way I stated in my first post as working.
    • Most of the thread you posted is about mounting a server share locally into a ubuntu folder. This is also not an issue for me. Still, after beeing mounted (in my case to /mnt/Backup/) the issue/error still occurs. So after reading through this topic there is nothing really new to me or something, that could change my situation.
      So, your help is still very appreciated. Thanks again
      Greetings
      Fabian
