Auto mount messed up after connecting encrypted drive

    Hey there,

I had VC working flawlessly for about 2-3 years. No weirdness whatsoever, same machine, same drives.
Recently, I connected a known external encrypted drive, and since then auto mount always assigns the wrong drive letters, even though they're stored and visible in the favourites.

I have to cancel the PW entering popup a couple of times, then select the first drive letter of those two I regularly mount and it works, but connecting any of the 2 external drives results in them being assigned the wrong drive letter. Since neither are part of a crucial software setup atm, and I can always assign manually, it's not a "real" problem, but it's annoying nonetheless. Maybe someone can help me (low priority).

    Win 10, VC 1.25.9

Auto-Mount Devices in main application screen operates independently from Favorites and does not use the Favorites for the Auto-Mount Devices process.

Read the section Auto-Mount Devices at the link below:

OK, but up til now it always worked exactly like that. The drive letters are "spaced" far from each other - G&H, then S&R - used to work flawlessly! Even when randomly connecting the external devices, the PW entry popped up, I entered, correct drive letter, every time.

Now it just does... something, that must have a cause

Probably your Windows registry is cluttered with various drive's definitions and the drive letters that is now different.

    Per the link I posted:

Drive letters will be assigned starting from the one that is selected in the drive list in the main window.

Windows controls the available drive letters and the order of using them on a drive unless you explicitly tell Windows to use an available drive letter.

You will have to manually mount the volumes using Favorites or manually selecting the drives/partitions to mount to the specific drive letter.
