Hello. I'm not sure exactly the settings I need for this, and I was hoping if I could lay out the details, maybe someone could point me in the right direction..
I have a 1TB internal drive (non-system) that I'm trying to create a 250GB Outer Volume and a 450GB Hidden Volume on. 700GB total.
I'll be using the folders regularly, so will be mounting them frequently when on the computer. Adding to them and removing as needed.
I won't be using any files over 4GB filesize on the outer volume, and I don't believe I will have any over that size on the hidden volume as well, so FAT would be fine, if necessary. The drive will only be accessed by Windows PCs, so NTFS would also be completely okay, I'm just not sure which one would be "better" for my situation.
I created a volume under the FAT format, that was 700GB in size for the outer volume (I thought the 450GB hidden volume would be subtracted from this total), and went through the hidden volume option.. The wizard asked me to move my files into the outer volume before creating the hidden one, which is fine, so I moved approximately 125GB to the outer volume. When I attempted to move forward with the wizard, it told me I didn't have enough space to create a hidden volume, and exited the wizard. I'm going to start over now, and was wondering a few things..
What brought on the error, especially with the 231GB unencrypted free space outside the container, as well as the ~575GB free space inside the container?
Which filesystem would be more appropriate for me to use? (if you need more details, I can provide them)
Would I make the outer volume 250GB in the beginning, then I can set the 450GB hidden volume later, making 700GB total?

I may have found the solutions from other answers on here, just needed to refine my searches a bit more, apparently.
I've got a 700GB container going now, and will create the hidden volume before adding any files to the outer volume, to make sure I can get the full 450GB out of it. I'm using exFAT instead of just FAT, so I can potentially use 4GB+ files in the future.
If I have any more problems, I'll post back..

Hi, did you eventually use exfat? and do you think its better than ntfs? Im struggling decide which is better exfat or ntfs?
if they both can copy files larger than 4gb at a time then thats good.. but which is really better? I personally dont want to use the drives on windows either.
are their any limitations or security issues if you create ntfs partition for hidden volume on usb stick? I hope you can also help me. thanks
