New Veracrypt partition not empty

Good evening!
I have created a volume in an empty partition with Veracrypt. My OS is MX Linux in a different partition. I should expect an empty partion after creating it, but I see all directories of Linux in it (8 Gb), which should be impossible after formatting. What is going on?
