Are there any Android apps which you have found to be reliable for opening Veracrypt on a phone? I prefer apps which don't use network access.

    Thanks

I already mentioned the only Android app that I'm aware of in VeraCrypt home page (https://veracrypt.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Android%20%26%20iOS%20Support).
If there are any other apps, I'll be glad to add them to the list.

Usually apps that handle data encryption on mobile devices need network access to implement cloud access needed by many users. An app with no network access is indeed more trustworthy by it will come with limited feature, thus reducing its usability for many users.
The real issue is the design of Android which (on purpose) doesn't include an atomic permission system in order to be able to disallow network access when not needed. This was possible for example on Symbian OS by Nokia but unfortunately it could not survive the competition against the less secure Android alternative.

Thanks - I had looked into EDS earlier as well. I am just not comfortable with the network access though I understand why they need it.

I use EDS lite for Truecrypt and the lite version doesn't ask for internet access.
I hope someone comes out with a no-network access for Veracrypt - I know a few other people who would gladly pay for such a version on the play store.

    Thanks

by the way, EDS make new release in september. More bag fix
"Last modified" timestamp of a file is restored after a copy/move operation.
Improved file manager: previously opened folder and scroll position are restored when switching between the containers and/or memory cards.
      Other minor fixes.
