I can mount my encrypted USB, but the logical drive when clicked shows RAW. Any suggestions to get this fixed? Is there a way to copy the RAW logical decrypted logical drive data to a physical USB drive so I can run data recovery software on that physical drive because it will be unencrypted?

I assume you are running Veracrypt on Windows.
I'm afraid I cannot understand what your problem is at all. I have no idea what you can possibly mean by 'RAW logical decrypted logical drive data'.
To try to break the issue down: what do you mean by 'the logical drive when clicked shows RAW'? That the physical drive shows as RAW in Windows Disk Management? And/or that you are told you have to format the disk before you can use it, in Windows File Explorer? If the latter, before or after mounting it in Veracrypt?

Yes Veracrypt on Windows. Hopefully I can explain better, I really apprecaite your reply.
I plug the USB into the PC. I start Veracrypt. I select the device. I then select a spare drive letter within Veracrypt and select "mount" and enter the password. The partition then shows up in the Veracrypt window normally. I click on the partition though, and then the computer reacts with the "this drive is not formatted, so you wish to format?". Of course I click no. If I run a disk utility that will recognize the drive letter I chose within Veracrypt, it will say that the format is RAW.

Also, when I right click on the partition within Veracrypt and select to permanently decrypt the volume, I enter the password and it works a few seconds and comes back with 4 reasons why it would not proceed, one being unrecognized file system.

I figure if I can find a utility that will recognize the drive letter that I choose for the volume within Veracrypt that will copy RAW content from that volume that is unencrypted onto another physical drive, I will have a lot better luck with utilizing a recovery software.

Did I describe everything better this time? Like I said, I really appreciate you replying.

So, can you confirm, the problem occurs with an encrypted USB drive that has been functioning normally, and contains data you wish to recover (rather than a problem with a USB drive that has just been encrypted)?

Yes that is correct. Any ideas?

I cannot help further with this, now that you have clarified what the problem is. (I thought you might have had a different problem.) I have no experience of using software to make forensic, bit-by-bit copies of partitions, or software that might recover file data from the copies.

There are a number of threads that deal with this issue, but it always helps to have someone 'on your case'; hopefully another forum contributor with experience of this situation will see this and provide assistance.

    Good luck!

    Thank you Adrian.

Anyone else have any ideas? Am I posted in the correct forum?
