Another Tale - 2016-10-30

Hello everyone,

let me thank you first for picking up where Truecrypt left. I started to use Veracrypt a couple of days ago after a long time of being a TC-fan and I really like the improvements you made!

I have, however, sort of an issue that I don't seem to be able to solve and I hope for your help:

There's a "virtual" disk connected to my PC via iSCSI and the local network. I've completely encrypted it as a non-system partition via Truecrypt. Until today I've been able to open the partition using Veracrypt and the "Truecrypt" option.

Today I received a warning about an defective volume header. I was able to open the volume using the embedded header, but I seem to be unable to use the suggested "Restore Volume Header" option, as the "Truecrypt" setting is grayed out there. When I try to restore it without activating that option, the restoration fails.

Things I've tried:
1.) Change the password to the partition in order to make it "Veracrypt". This fails, however, with a generic error.
2.) Permanently decrypt the partition. This leads to the following error: "VeraCrypt can in-place encrypt only a partition, a dynamic volume, or an entire system drive. Please make sure the specified path is valid."
3.) Run a portable Truecrypt instance to try and fix the header from there. Truecrypt is not starting due to some driver-related error. I assume that this is due to the Veracrypt installation?

As the volume is rather big I would really like to avoid copying all the data at another place and recreating it from scratch.

Could you please point me into a helpful direction? How can I restore the header or permanently decrypt/reencrypt the volume?

Many thanks!
