Is it possible to achieve dual boot with veracrypt on 1 drive?
1xSSD 512gb in laptop.
3 partitions, all encrypted. 1 system part for win7, 1 system part for win10 and 1 big part for storage.
3rd party boot manager needed maybe?
Can we use legacy BIOS or UEFI is needed?
usually on desktop I just use separate HDD/SSD drive for each VC encypted system and I manually choose which one to boot on start-up, but laptop have only 1 drive so I'm limited.
btw if anyone knows, could I use microSD in laptop and use it for boot, or as a rule that's not possible?
If possible, I could put win7, encrypt (does VC support SD cards?) on that drive and solve the problem that way. could be a bit slow, but if I buy faster/expensive SD card I could, according to web, achieve 80mb speed which should be ok for normal work?
thank you and regards.
edit: I just checked in BIOS/boot of the laptop and it seems there is no option for booting of the built-in reader. USB card reader is not an option so I guess that option is off.
edit2: I have installed win10 on partition 1, win7 on partition 2. I used system partition in VC to encrypt win7 and it works perfectly using multi boot option during encryption setup.
afterwords I tried using the same in win10 but at the end get the warning
ok, so I finally was able to do what I needed by using full disk encryption. I created it from win7. during boot, after typing the pass, I get the dual boot screen to chose which Os to boot.
worked perfectly.
then suddenly a few days ago, my win7 went berserk, says not activated. ok, I decrypted the drive, fixed this issue and now when I try to encrypt again, on pre test I get "booting..." hang.
no win updates were installed, no BIOS updates, nothing. I don't understand what's going on. I even tried restoring images of both OS-es from before this problem and tried VC again, and again I get pre test hang.
please give me some advice because there is no reason this not to work when I used it on the same OS/laptop for days.
thanks.
edit: forgot to mention, I use legacy and MBR. no 100mb reserved partition.
I tried from win10 and win7. same problem.
