I was going to purchase a Chromebook but didn't know if there is a way to use Veracrypt on a Chromebook? Have other people found a way to decrypt, edit and re-encrypt containers on a Chromebook?

It would be a dealbreaker to get a Chromebook for me if I couldn't use Veracrypt.

    Thanks

I have a Chromebook too, they are all fully encrypted by default but Google can decrypt your data, they keep a back up copy of the decryption keys and there is no opt-out option.

I don´t reccomend it of course, and you can´t use Veracrypt, you can´t even use Firefox or any other browser on a Chromebook, you are stuck with Chrome. Linux software will not work on a Chromebook either, the most you can aspire to are Chrome browser extensions, there are problems to play certain video files as you can´t install new codecs.

Chromebooks are cheap for a reason, because they come loaded with Google spyware that you can´t remove neither replace, the money they might lose selling the hardware, they make it up spying on you and selling your data. Windows is spyware too, but at least you can install new sofware to replace Microsoft products.

What? I can and do use Firefox with NoScript and Veracrypt via Crouton, all the time.
With enough storage (and Google support, not all models can Android/Crouton/vm-chroot), a chromebook can run VMs, windoze included, Android, and Linux both as chroot and native. Locked in? LOL
