I have been using Truecrypt and then Veracrypt for years with Windws 10 to create and access an encrypted virtual disk. I have never had an issue until Thursday, April 15.

Suddenly, when accessing multiple Excel files on the virtual drive sequentially, my system would lock up. I had to force a cold boot to get the system back, and each time Windows reported that the virtual disk may have been corrupted because it was not closed down properly. No corruption was found after checkdisk.

Why would a system I had been using successfully for years suddenly start to lock up? There was a Windows update the day before, but not on that day.

In case it matters, my system is Windows 10 Pro, x64, Version 20H2. The virtual disk is about 50 GB and formatted as FAT32 to be compatible with Novebackup.

Hi Victor, I'm having similar problems. Did you find a solution. Here's the thread i posted. I've not resolved the issue yet. https://sourceforge.net/p/veracrypt/discussion/general/thread/2475529dad/

John - I never found a solution with Veracrypt. I needed a working solution so, after decades with Truecrypt and then Veracrypt, I bit the bullet and purchased a license for DriveCrypt, which turned out to work.

Hi Victor, THank you for the quick reply. That's a shame. Thanks for the advice. It's something i'll look into.
    Cheers
    Chris
