Updated to 1.24-Update2 (64-bit), can't boot, can I test to help with tracking the culprit?

I've updated from an unknown version (can't remember which, but probably 1.24-Hotfix1) through chocolatey today to 1.24-Update2. Rebooted, got to the pass/pim prompt, everything went OK except the PC just froze there.

UEFI system
Full disk system encryption, SSD M.2 Sandisk
Windows 10 Pro x64 1909, latest updates

Did the "restore veracrypt loader binaries" from rescue disk (v1.23), PC boots normally. Reinstalled VC 1.24-Update2 from installer just in case, rebooted, same problem, solved again with rescue disk.

Is there anything I can do to help in any way? Please bear in mind I'm no expert, but can follow simple instructions.
