I've been trying to use VeraCrypt to encrypt a asus transformer book for quite sometime now. I've made many attempts under different circumstances. Everytime I try though the process fails before the System Encryption Pretest can occur. My latest attempt was to do the process using the Administrator account rather than my own. I received the following error when trying to start the pretest.
The parameter is incorrect.
Source: VeraCrypt::File::Write:627
The "Source" section of this error is new but every time I've tried the process I always get the "This parameter is incorrect." bit. Any help would be great as I've been at this for a while but don't trust leaving the encryption of this device up to BitLocker.
Thanks.

Yes, it does use UEFI. It uses 32bit efi images which I know VeraCrypt has support for.
Currently the efi directory is exactly what you would expect from a normal WIndows setup.
I've watched VeraCrypt change the efi section while setting up for the pretest but will revert it back after it fails.

Hello, I have the same problem and I can not solve it. Can you help me?.
I tried to enable the administrator account, disable UAC, mount EFI, assign a letter, disable TMP, disable all security software, disable secure boot, I do not know what else I should do.
Hopefully they will join me and help me. Thank you very much!

Once I have encrypted the system with VeraCrypt, then I will be able to make the VeraCrypt loader as trusted. But right now is failing in the pre-test stage, it has not even been encrypted.
The error message raises certain suspicions about what the real problem is. Maybe it's a permissions issue or attributes?

I think it's VeraCrypt software problem, because I've tried everything and the same error appears. Previously appeared error 627, now appears error 603. I have seen that other users also have the same problem.

I have tested bitlocker and it works correctly, I have also tested a company's "Jetico" encryption software and it also works correctly, so I suspect it may be a VeraCrypt software problem. (Obviously I will not trust my security to Microsoft or Jetico).

Hello, I have the same problem and I cannot solve it. Have you managed to solve it? If so, can you tell me how you have done it? Thank you!
I guess - ASUS transformer is new. It uses EFI based boot. Right?
You can check contents of ESP.
from admin cmd

I suspect there is some antivirus software. It prevents to backup EFI\boot\bootia32.efi

Hi, thanks for your response.
The model of my computer is as follows: Acer Aspire Switch SW5-012 with Microsoft Windows 8.1
You can search the forums for Acer to see the posts from other owners having issues. Here is a post that may help you.

What version veracrypt you are using?
Last edit: Anonymous 2017-07-03
I am using the latest version available: https://sourceforge.net/projects/veracrypt/files/VeraCrypt%201.21/
By the way, I think they have eliminated it.
It has occurred to me to encrypt the partition of Windows 8.1 from a GNU / Linux system, what do you think ?, this would work?
