I have two HDDs, I clone the primary to the secondary via Macrium Reflect. I have done this for 5 years. I have always been able to boot off the cloned HDD. It has been a completely copy of the operating system.
Now I installed VeraCrypt and encrypted the primary disk's OS with VeraCrypt. Then I cloned it with Reflect.
Upon trying to boot off the secondary HDD, it displays, after entering the VeraCrypt password:
Error: No bootable partition found
the cloned image apparently does not have an x86 Master Boot Record, why is that?
I've never gotten this error before over years of using Reflect. So VeraCrypt encryption changed something that prevents cloning/imaging, what could it be?
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
Either you are not backing-up the entire disk properly to include the other Microsoft system partitions needed for a proper restore or Macrium Reflect is altering the disk sizing during the restore which would cause VeraCrypt to fail due to the disk offset does not match the original disk offset. Hence, VeraCrypt cannot find a bootable partition.
I would open a support ticket with Macrium to review your clone/image procedures.

Ideas?

I have their free version and they don't offer any support, not even the ability to register on the forum.
I think I will try another cloning software for Windows 7.
