I start VeraCrypt-1.26.29-x86_64.AppImage and ask for quick format a 5.5TB file on an exFAT USB disk. I mouse-over until randomness is 100% and then click »Format«. Then right away it says 100% done, see attachment. I did expect it would take some time but not it had been running for 10 hours on a Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS with 12 cores Intel 2.6GHz i7-8850H, 16GB RAM and USB 3.2 (blue) on motherboard, Seagate model STKP6000400 also with USB 3.2. I have no idea when it will be done. 24 hours? A week?
Edit: it completed before I posted this message but it would be nice if the Estimated Time of Arrival was working. BTW It took 11 hours to quick format the disk.
