#665 Crashes in PPG lately - unexplained cause it had been fine
Up until recenty I've been doing cargo and merchant mission in PPG in Humbolt sector with a trip or two to Regallis/Pollux, War, and Castor (unsing a modified Galaxy and modified Centurion. No problems.
Some days ago I made a jump to Potter quadrant in the Galaxy and started some cargo/merchant missions there. Then I decied to try the Story Missions. I completed the Sandoval mission, thent he Tayla 1 mission and saved game. I them did the Tayla 2 mission and didn't like all the militia and confeds after me so I reloaded the saved game (after Tayla 1) and jumped back to XXN-1927/Jolson.
That's when all my trouble began.
It seemed that whenever I hadd a lot of cargo (and maybe merchant missions) that when I would try to jump to New Detroit I would crash when I tried to Jump.
I've tried all kinds of things, back out some of my ship mods, experimenting with cargo vs no cargo with/without missions. and more often than not I would crash mainly when trying to Jump.
The mods I'm referring to are (1) reactor mods (example 350,250), Shield mods (85,85,85,85 - .7) for {shield_4_Level5_galaxy;;}{reactor_level_5_galaxy;;} and isometal armor and added 2 more guns and a total of 5 missile launchers.
Similar mods for Centurion. I had tried {add_reactor_capacitance.256;;} and {add_shield_4_capacitance.256;;} and back those out for testing.
Anyway, I rant a series of test flights in Galaxy from a saved game today that had crashed on me last night after the final of 7 jumps and today it didn't crash!!!
I tried to do the same thing today I did last night.
One thing is (or may) be different. Earlier today I installed Vegastrike VS Setup 0.5.1 r1.exe to see if liked it (because of the PPG crashes). After the install I got a popup something to the effect of C++ Repair or uninstall. I chose "Repair".
I tried Vegastrike and didn't like it much so uninstalled it.
That's when I tried my save game test in PPG from last night and no crash.
I'm not going to conclude that the Repair that the Vegastrike install did of C++ in the reason because I have done enough further PPG game play to feel confident that the problems are gone - but I guess it could be so.
Also, I should mention I'm using Pod's tWeakpak for PPG.
I'm including 5 log files. The stderr.txt and stdout.txt from the crashes last night and one stderr.txt before that, and the pair from today with no crashes.
I can't make heads or tails out of them really.

I got tp looking at my Event Log Applications file and saw thse from the previous crashes.

It could be the repair. The repair you mention is the replacement of the MSVCRT with the correct version, when the installer (it's Microsoft's actually) detects DLL version mismatches.
It could be that PGG ships with the wrong MSVCRT.
I have (looks like 16) files on my laptop = msvcr71.dll
the one in PPG is -------------- 7.10.3052.4 dated 12/31/2007
the one in windows/system32 is - 7.10.6030.0 dated 7/11/2006 (that's strange).
They are all the same size (different dates) and most have the same version as the one in Privateer\bin except for the one in system32.
I don't know what the Vegatrek install actually repaired - it didn't say.
I assume that privateer is going to call the one in privateer\bin ? or would it call the one in windows\system32 ?
